Since qualifying from MTU with a degree in Interior Architecture in 2022, Orla Mc Carthy has worked for Southgate Associates. While working with the company she has helped with varied projects and learned skills relating to conservation, coordinating traditional skills training.

Orla is currently studying for a Master's in Architectural Conservation at the University of Edinburgh.  

Orla was put forward by her department in MTU for the Irish Graduate Design Awards of the Institute of Designers Ireland for her undergraduate project on the adaptive reuse of a convent in Skibbereen (for which they had awarded her a 1^st class honours degree). She received 1^st place for interior architecture and 2^nd place for the architecture category.
